About Dois Irmãos Winery

Our Story

Samuel and David started Dois Irmãos, Portuguese for “Two Brothers,” in 2008 with an aim to produce Old World and age-worthy wines. The Coelho brothers source grapes from select vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley and craft one annual Pinot Noir that they believe best represents the region and vintage. They distribute this small-production wine only to a handful of retailers and restaurants, and occasionally share with the Coelho Winery wine club.

With their inaugural wine, the 2008 Dois Irmãos, the Coelho brothers proved themselves right out of the gate. Displaying a Burgundian quality of elegance with complexity and depth, this impressive wine is a gorgeous display of the stunning vintage, and will only gain more nuance with time. Secure some of this rare wine, and tap into this team’s talent before the secret’s out.

The Coelho Brothers

Dois Irmãos is a Willamette Valley wine project of two brothers, Samuel and David Coelho, the sons of Portuguese farmers.

Wine has always played a role in the brothers’ lives growing up; from enjoying a little at dinner as children, to hearing stories about grandfathers and great-grandfathers who made wine for family and friends. Winemaking was a family tradition, and in high school, mom and dad converted several acres of sloping Willamette Valley land to vineyards.

Today, after years of working the family’s vineyards and vats after school and on breaks, this well-rounded duo, equipped with degrees in business, politics and languages, manage integral parts of their parents’ venture. David heads the winemaking team and Samuel leads the sales and marketing department for Coelho Winery, whose 2008 Paciência Estate Pinot Noir recently received 91 points from The Wine Advocate, with the 2009 receiving 92 points from Wine Spectator.
